The ever-smiling eyes of Sidney Meadow closed gently in eternal rest on February 13, 2013. Sid is survived by his daughter Linda Davis of Oregon, son Stephen Meadow of Boston and beloved caregiver Michael Gawu of Ghana and Danbury, and is deeply remembered by scores of long time friends, many of whom celebrated his 100th birthday with him on April 5, 2012. Sid was born in the Bronx and lived there until he attended the University of Minnesota. During his formative years, he nurtured talents that lasted a lifetime. He loved cooking , music and singing, especially in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. While singing in a church choir, Sid met the love of his life, Edna. His gourmet cooking and baking delighted his family and friends for over half a century. As a very talented electronics engineer, Sid worked on radar for the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, and shortly thereafter designed and built television sets on his own. Sid was a gentle man whose laughter, kindness and generosity touched everyone. Any remembrances should be sent to L. Davis, P.O. Box 1918, Jacksonville, OR 97530.
