Gertrude A. OâNeil, 94, formerly of Cozy Hollow Rd, Danbury, wife of 65 years to the late James OâNeil, died peacefully at Pope John Paul Center for Healthcare, on Friday, February 22nd. She was born in Danbury on June 7, 1918, daughter of the late John A. and Gertrude (Williams) Farley. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1936, and St. Vincentâs School of Nursing. Mrs. OâNeil worked as a nurse for Danbury Hospital for many years. She later went on to work as a private duty nurse. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family. She loved to have cookouts with burnt hotdogs in âGertâs Lounge,â where many family members, friends and neighbors gathered. She was lovingly known by her family as âGramma Gooch.â She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Suzanne Moros and her husband, Edward, Mary Sireci, and Betsy Davis and her husband, Ralph; her nine grandchildren, Jennifer Moros, Kathleen and her husband, Dan Sadowski, Joseph Sireci IV and his wife, Chris, Elizabeth and her husband, Rich Hammer, Mario Sireci, James Sireci and his wife, Rosa, Melissa OâNeil, Brian and Caitlin Davis; and her six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth OâNeill; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, John âBudâ Farley; and her son-in-law, Joseph Sireci III.
