Frances LaPine, 87, passed away at Hancock Hall Nursing Home on October 25, 2013. She was the wife of the late Walter J. LaPine.
Frances, daughter of the late Frank and Tessie (Caperella) Cipolla, was born on January 21st, 1926 in New Fairfield, CT.

“Fritz” or “Fritzie” as she was affectionately known by all of her family and friends grew up on the family farm in what is now the Candlewood Lake area of Brookfield. She graduated from The Woodcreek School, a 1-room schoolhouse. Had she not quit school during the war to go to work she would have graduated in the DHS class of 1944. She married Walter LaPine in 1949 and worked at Bardens for many years before starting a family and becoming a homemaker. In later years, she was a familiar face at both the Candlewood Spa and Highway Market in Brookfield serving her special sandwiches and homemade soups.

Fritz was an incredible cook and world-class baker. She was always happy to share her many stories and childhood memories about growing up on the farm during the depression. Her greatest joy came from feeding and taking care of her many friends and family. She loved cooking, music, gardening and most importantly her family, especially her 2 grandchildren who will miss her deeply.

She leaves behind a son, Jim LaPine and his wife Diane LaPine of Danbury; a sister, Antoinette Fotion of Ansonia; two grandchildren, Jaimie LaPine and Gregory LaPine, both of Danbury; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 49 years, she was also predeceased by 8 brothers and 6 sisters.
