Mae E. Demo, wife of Julius Demo, lifetime resident of Danbury, died Tuesday, April 23rd after a feisty, courageous battle with cancer, which, although it took her life, could not prevent her from making wise-cracks until the very end. Mae was born August 11, 1925 in Buffalo, NY but spent her childhood on South Street in Danbury, around the corner from her father’s South End Market grocery store on Main Street. Mae attended Danbury schools and was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church at the time her death. She was the daughter of the late Najem Moses and Lamia Malkoun Moses. The youngest of nine children, she was predeceased by brothers; Thomas Asmer, Marshall Miller and Michael Moses; her sisters, Minnie Jowdy, Manira Rebeirro, Mabel Perrotti and Mary Abdella. Mae worked at Reeves Soundcraft Corp. in Bethel for many years. She was an avid reader who enjoyed playing cards, mahjong and trivial pursuit. In addition to her husband, Julius, Mae is survived by her stepdaughter Linda Hansen; her grandchildren; Tanya Bennett, Julie Bell, Jessica Hansen; her great grandchildren, Destiny and Dallas Bennett and Samuel Bell as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
