Assunta Maria Butera, age 84, of Danbury died at Danbury Hospital on December 26, 2012. She was the devoted wife of Francesco Butera. She was born on September 8, 1928 in Italy, daughter of the late Bruno and Giovanna (Gigliotti) Stranieri. She was a parishoner of St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Assunta was a wonderful cook whose greatest pleasure was cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her husband of 60 years, Francesco, she is survived by three sons: Pascual Butera and his wife, Angelina; Bruno Butera; and Frank Butera and his wife Renee; a daughter, Nancy Butera all of Danbury; 2 sisters: Maria Musolino of Danbury and Rosina Perri of Australia; 6 grandchildren: Maria, Susan, Fred, Kelly, and Bianca; 5 great grandchildren: Victoria, Daniel, Mia, Ava, Brady; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers and one sister.
