Carmela Theresa Pannozzo Troccolo was born on October 12, 1917, in Millbrook, NY, and died on May 18, 2015 after a short illness in Portland, OR. Carmela was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Theresa DeVito Pannozzo. She moved to Danbury, Connecticut as a small child and lived in Danbury most of her life. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, class of 1935. After attending a Brooklyn Dodgers game when she was a young girl, she remained a lifelong and passionate baseball fan. In 1944, Carmela married the late Michael A. Troccolo and they had two children: Patrick M. Troccolo of Portland, OR, and Susan M. Troccolo of Washington DC. Carmela was the bookkeeper for her fatherâs well-known and respected florist business until it was sold in 1984. She was a partner in a popular refreshment stand at The Great Danbury State Fair from 1948 until it closed in 1981. She was the caregiver for both her father and her husband and with grace and generosity gave of herself all her life to help others. It was in support of her children that she was active in the PTA and served 2 terms as President of the Hayestown School PTA. She also served as a Den Mother of the Cub Scout Pack #33 of St. Joseph’s School for several years. After the death of her husband in 2001, Carmela relocated to Portland, OR. For almost 15 years, until her death, she learned a new city, made new and dear friends, and enjoyed travel with her children. Carmela was recognized in her senior community as a Master Gardener. She will be greatly missed.
