Pauline L. Faynor, age 98 of Northfield, VT, formerly of Danbury died on February 26th in Northfield at Mayo Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Paul Faynor. Pauline was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 1, 1916, the eldest of three children born to the late George and Elizabeth (Kuterka) Layda, whose ancestors were from what is now known as Slovakia. She was a lifelong Danbury resident until 2009 when she moved to Northfield, VT. At an early age, Pauline learned to sew and her love of fabric led her to design and hook rugs. She created needle point pictures for the family, braided rugs and quilts, and never let an old pair of pants or a shirt go to waste. She was a wonderful cook, and avid gardener, and a true matriarch. Pauline was a member of Saint Paulâs Lutheran Church, Danbury, and a member of its womenâs group, WELCA. She was also a member of SOKOL Lodge 51W. Pauline is survived by her daughters, Janet Robitaille and her husband Albert, and Betty Ann Shepherd both of Northfield, VT, her son, Paul M. Faynor of Orange, CA. She also leaves a family of five generations with grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
