Jean Phyllis Andros, age 80, of Danbury died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 6, 2015. She was the wife of the late John M. Andros. Mrs. Andros was born on April 8, 1934 in Holyoke, MA, a daughter of the late Wilmer and Jean (Dzwonkowski) Boyer. A longtime Danbury resident, she retired from Kimchuk Corp. where she was employed as a Group Leader. Her work included soldering circuit boards and making electrical harnesses, the more complex the better! During retirement, she and her beloved husband enjoyed traveling to the cabin in Tennessee/Mississippi, the Caribbean, Alaska, the Panama Canal, and the Baltic Sea. Most times they would travel with her brothers and their wives. Jean was also a talented seamstress who made clothing for her three children during their youth. She outfitted a pontoon boat with seat cushions and curtains so they could stay out over night on Candlewood Lake fishing by lantern light. She made slipcovers and curtains and most recently helped make Halloween costumes for her granddaughter Kristine. Jean and her husband bowled together and independently at the Bowlarama for many years. She loved doing crossword puzzles and playing scratch off lottery tickets. Cross stitch and embroidery were also favorite hobbies. Jean is survived by her three children: Jean Anne MacCarthy and her husband, Pat, of New Fairfield; John “Jody” Andros of Danbury, and Jennifer Smith of Winter Haven, FL; 2 brothers: Theodore Boyer and his wife, Katherine of Memphis, TN; Wilmer “Butch” Boyer and his wife, Barbara of Dover Plains, NY; 6 grandchildren: Kristine, Amanda, John Victor, Richard, Nicholas, and Jacob.
