Doris Arlene Pesente, 91, of Bethel, wife of the late John J. Pesente, died on January 27th in Danbury Hospital after a short illness. She was born on September 5, 1923 in Bethel. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lydia (Sailor) Renner. Doris was a past parishioner of St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s and was very generous. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great grandmother. Doris was a homemaker, an avid reader and a great cook/baker. She was best known for her cherry cheesecake. She loved knitting and sewing for her children. She will be sadly missed by her two sons; John A. Pesente and his wife Mary M. of FL, Joseph P. Pesente and his wife Jo-Ann of New Milford; her two daughters; Doris “Cookie” Anderson and her husband Robert of FL, Carley Pesente of Bethel; also by eleven cherished grandchildren, Cheryl Gaylord, Brent and Brian Graham, Christina Rowland, John Michael Pesente, Catherine Jameson, Kimberly Lauden, Derek Pesente, Ian Ducan, Chelbi and Benjamin Cass, along with fifteen great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Gloria Marshall of Woodbury and several nieces and nephews. Doris is predeceased by her daughter Maryanne Potter, and two grandsons, William Dean Jr., and OSSN James Pesente, USSN.
