Carl Frederick Rebhan – May 13, 1924 – September 23, 2014

Carl Frederick Rebhan, 90, of Brookfield, husband of the late Justine (Johnson) Rebhan, died at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, September 23rd. He was born in Danbury on May 13, 1924, son of the late John and Anna (Heinemeyer) Rebhan. He was a graduate of Danbury High School. Carl served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, which included time on the Destroyer Escort USS Slater. He later became a supporter of the restoration of this ship. He was a member of the VFW and the Arion Singing Society. He was employed in the painting industry for many years, manufacturing paint with Lewis Paint Work. He later worked as a painter for the Brookfield School System. He enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, and the Brookfield Senior Center. Carl was a member of the first Brookfield Planning Board and was the junior warden at St. Paul’s Church in Brookfield for many years. In later years, he was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brookfield, and a member of the Property Committee. Carl is survived by his daughter, Sandra Rebhan Folk, of Concord, Massachusetts, and his grandchildren, Carl Louis Folk, of Bedford, Massachusetts, and Dorette Folk Boland and her husband, Christopher Boland, of Concord, Massachusetts, and his great-grandchildren William Rodney Boland and Halle Alexandra Boland, both of Concord, Massachusetts. He also leaves a sister, Marie Rebhan Balogh, of Midlothian, Virginia. Carl is also survived by his long-time friend Elizabeth Horton of Brookfield. Carl was predeceased by his brothers John Louis Rebhan, George Rebhan, and Henry Rebhan.
