Rose Marie (Jurss) Dombroski, of Newtown, died peacefully on Saturday, May 17th at Maplewood of Newtown. She was born in Milwaukee, WI on July 3, 1927, daughter of the late Edward and Rose (Springob) Jurss. In 1949, she graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor in Philosophy and a minor in Secondary Education. Upon graduating from college, Rose went on to work as a social worker for the Department of Public Welfare in Cooke County, IL. After moving to Ridgefield, CT in 1963, she worked as a teacher at Pinchbeckâs Nursery School. She then devoted herself to caring for her children and was a stay at home mom. Rose enjoyed traveling, skiing and playing bridge. Later on, she was an administrative assistant at Emery Air Freight and then worked at the Congregational Church in New Canaan. In 1987, Rose Marie moved to Brookfield and became secretary for the Brookfield Senior Center. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a past parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Ridgefield. She will be sadly missed by her son, Paul Dombroski and his wife, Elizabeth of Shelton; her two daughters, MaryBeth Knight and her husband, David of Brookfield, Lynne Dombroski and her husband, Mark Wilson of Wellesley, MA; her two grandchildren, Diana Smith and her husband, Jason of Bethel, and Amanda Gaita and her fiancé Jennifer Gross of Lake Worth, Fl; and her two great grandchildren, McKenah and Gavin Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Jurss and his wife, Mary Lou; as well as several nieces and nephews.
