Beverly G. Green – February 03, 1932 – March 28, 2014

Beverly Gaie Green died peacefully Friday, March 28, at the Danbury Health Care Center in Danbury, CT, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Bev was born February 3, 1932. A resident of Danbury since 1980, she and her husband David were married August 28, 1954. She was the only daughter of the late Mildred and Everett Luce. She grew up in Midland, Michigan, where she won a contest around 1947 playing a French horn solo, winning a scholarship to an 8-week summer session at the National Music Camp at Interlochen, Michigan. She attended NMC four summers. She studied music at Northwestern University for one year, during which she also studied French horn with Max Pottag in Chicago. She transferred to the University of Michigan in 1951, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree. She played French horn and wrote the program notes for the Battle Creek (MI) Symphony Orchestra for many years, and was the president of Friends of the Orchestra. A charter member of Valley Presbyterian Church in Brookfield, CT, Beverly was the church pianist and choir accompanist for the choir’s first five years. She served as an elder and on a pastoral nominating committee. She sang with the Connecticut Choral Society from 2001 to 2009. She loved gardening. As a member of Gamma Phi Beta she served two years as Province Collegiate Director. Beverly will be sadly missed by her husband David, their three children and seven grandchildren. Sandra Sander and her husband, Thomas, of Barnesville, PA, is the mother of Keith Howard and Wade Howard. Edward Green of Dallas, TX, is the father of Garrett and Jordan. Ronald Green of Bethel, CT, is the father of Meaghan, Bryar, and Abigail.
