Richard E. Kalnins, Sr., 89, of Ridgefield, beloved husband of Ilga (Lapins) Kalnins, died peacefully in the presence of his family on Saturday, August 24th at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Riga, Latvia on February 15, 1924, son of the late Edward and Marija (Silin) Kalnins.

Upon retirement he became an avid stamp collector. He enjoyed collecting and dealing stamps at various stamp shows, along with his beloved wife.
In addition to his cherished wife of 67 years, Ilga, he will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Antra Borofsky and her husband, Richard of Cambridge, MA, and Mara Johnson and her husband, Garry of Madison, NJ; his son, Richard E. Kalnins, Jr. and his wife, Siobhan of Watertown; his seven grandchildren, Nadine Mazzola, Larissa Borofsky, Rachel and Emily Johnson, Ryan, Grace and Ellen Kalnins.
