Josephine Anne “JoAnne” Markosky – June 17, 1944 – June 11, 2013

Josephine Anne “JoAnne” Markosky, widow of the late Edward J. Markosky Jr., died suddenly on Tuesday June 11th at home. JoAnne was the daughter of the late Francis and Josephine (Kelley) Murphy. JoAnne was born in Danbury on June 17, 1944. She was a graduate of Saint Joseph School and Danbury High School. She earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees at Western CT State University. She retired from Danbury High School in June of 2012. Prior to teaching at Danbury High School she taught in Brookfield, Naugatuck and at Henry Abbott Regional Technical High School. Teaching was one of her great passions and she continued to teach in Adult Education as an English as a Second Language Teacher until her passing. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and a life time parishioner of Saint Gregory the Great Parish in Danbury. She was also a member of the Women of St. Gregory.

She is survived by her daughter; Christine Harty and her husband Rob of Roxbury and her daughter Karol of New York City. She was a loving grandmother to Grace, Abigail and Collin Harty. She is also survived by her brothers; William, John and Daniel and their wives Patricia, Virginia and Catherine of Danbury, A sister; Winifred Rice and her husband Warren of Crofton, MD, she leaves numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. She was predeceased by her sister Charlotte in 1964.
